Carolyn Jean Ellis Obituary

Age 92, of Upper St. Clair, peacefully passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024 at her home. Beloved wife of 70 beautiful years to Richard “Dick” A. Ellis; Loving mother of Donna (George) Dlugos, Richard “Rick” D. (Mary) Ellis, Daniel J. (Valentine) Ellis, Thomas R. (Karen) Ellis, and Norma L. (Gary) Hibbits; proud grandmother of Dan (Meghan) Dlugos, Julie Atherton, Lisa (Matt) Lauth, Robert (Alysia) Ellis, Jennifer (Richard) Bono, Mike and Carly Ellis, and Katie, Kimie, and Krisy Ellis. Carolyn is also survived by 13 great grandchildren to help carry on her legacy. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Ida Bohm, Florence Homer, Leona Byers, and her twin sister Norma Mazurak, and her parents, Augustine and Pauline Byrnes. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Carolyn and her husband Richard were business owners of Ellis Asphalt Paving Company, locally started in 1958. They were a great team and made a successful business still in operation today. Carolyn enjoyed her work and only retired at the age of 88. Carolyn and her husband were snow birds to Harbor Isles in Florida for over 30 years. She also enjoyed spending her summers at home in Pittsburgh creating a beautiful flower garden. Carolyn will be remembered for being a strong and independent woman with a hard work ethic, her caring nature, and most of all pure love for her family. She was blessed to have raised a beautiful family that will continue her legacy of life and love. A Memorial will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, 11AM at John McMillan Presbyterian Church, 875 Clifton Rd. Bethel Park, PA 15102. The Ellis Family would like to thank Bridges Hospice for their care and support given to both Carolyn and her family, especially Terri, Sky, Brenda, Kim, and Breck.
