Donald G. Gallagher


Of Newton, formerly of Hyde Park, passed away peacefully early Monday morning March 25th, 2024 after a 2-year long battle with Stage 4 Kidney Cancer at the age of 64.


Born on October 14, 1959 in Chelsea; son of the late Robert H. Gallagher and Dorothy A. (Conlin) Gallagher. Don was raised and educated in the Hyde Park section of Boston and moved to Newton after his marriage 29 years ago.


A graduate of Hyde Park High School and had been employed with the City of Boston Department of Public Works for over 35 years.


He had many different hobbies and interests throughout his life including watching television & movies, especially game shows, doing word search puzzles, playing video games, but his passion was sports. He was a former season ticket holder and diehard Boston Bruins fan. He loved following the Boston Bruins and the New England Patriots.


His greatest enjoyment in life came from spending time with his family and his friends.


Don is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years Ronda (Napolitano) Gallagher; his devoted & loving daughter Jessica Gallagher of Newton; and his dear siblings Robert W. Gallagher and his wife Kathleen of West Roxbury; Elizabeth A. McFarland and her husband Richard of Illinois; David F. Gallagher and his wife Susan of Iowa; and Thomas E. Gallagher and his wife Maureen of Virginia. In addition, he is survived by his Godparents aunt Donna McLeod and uncle George Conlin, several nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, great-great nephews, extended family and numerous close friends.


Those who wish to pay their respects to Donald and his family can do so in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Tuesday April 2nd from 4pm until 8pm. For those who wish to pay their final respects, but are unable to attend, please be sure to sign the guestbook at www.BrascoFuneralhome.com. Parking attendants will be on duty.


Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Donald's life to remember the love and friendship he shared with others at a Funeral Service in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Wednesday morning April 3rd at 11:00 am.
