Peter Alexei Kelly Obituary

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, Peter Alexei Kelly. Peter was born on March 17, 2004, and passed away unexpectedly on March 25, 2024, due to an undiagnosed medical condition.

Peter was a daredevil from the moment he discovered that his feet could be used for walking, running, and climbing. He loved anything with wheels, from bicycles, scooters, dirt bikes, 4 wheelers, and trucks. He loved to go fast and jump anything.

Peter loved being outdoors and living every moment to the fullest. He loved going fishing and hunting with his friends. Camping at Bluff Valley Campground was his home away from home for many years and he was loved by so many special people there. He loved hanging out with his friends playing Xbox and, of course, shopping for clothes. His real passion was dirt biking and, as his friends would say, “that kid knew how to ride a wheelie”. He spent many weekends on dirt biking trips with his Dad, brother, and friends. They will proudly continue that tradition in his honor.

Being a St. Patrick’s Day baby, we incorporated the leprechaun hiding a pot of gold (candy) on his childhood birthdays. Peter always found the candy treasure. The truth is, he was our pot of gold. Peter’s heart was pure love and he gave the best hugs ever. He was such a blessing to his family and we cherish every memory of being together with him. He was also a fiercely loyal and supportive friend to so many through his short life. We are greatly comforted in knowing that Peter was loved immensely by best friends: Josh, Tyler, Logan, Andrew, Cody, Alex, Taj, Kyle, Ben, Colten, Adam, Landen, Jacob, and many more friends made through the years.

Peter will forever be loved and missed by his parents, John & Penny Kelly of Northfield; brother, Jack (Charlotte) of La Crosse, WI; aunts and uncles, Karen (Chuck) Anderson, Steven (Joy) Glende, Bob (Deb) Kelly, Vicky Vaught; grandma, Selma Glende; cousins, Toni (Jamie), Cyndi, Liz, Anne (Shane), Erin (Chris), Chris, Duane, and Marion; as well as other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Doug and Mary Kelly, Roger Glende, Dianne Bias; great-grandmother, Evelyn Glende; uncle, George Vaught; and great-uncle, Keith Glende.

A Celebration of Peter's Life will be held at the Bierman, Benson, & Langehough Funeral Home in Northfield, MN, beginning at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 6, with lunch following at 2:00 PM. Please wear your hat, boots, or Dude shoes in honor of Peter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to establish a charitable giving fund to a local motorcycle club and an annual dirt bike memorial ride in Peter’s name.
