<p>Rev. David Michael Baggett, 80, of Elkton passed away Tuesday March 26,2024 at The Pavilion at Crescent Lake in Crescent City following an extended illness. He was a native of Palatka and a lifelong resident of the Hastings area. Michael worked for many years in the farming industry for Danny Byrnes Farms and also worked in pulp wooding. He was a long-time pastor at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Hastings and performed many weddings and funerals during his time as a pastor. In his spare time, Michael enjoyed fishing, singing, and loved giving to others.</p><p>He is preceded in death by his parents, John Aaron Baggett and Jewel Basher Bagget, a brother, Joseph Larry Baggett, and sisters, Carol Anett Smith, and Elizabeth “Libba” Sweat.</p><p>Michael is survived by his brothers Calvin Baggett Sr. (Bessie), Tommy Smith Jr. (Karen), Earl Smith (Betty), Donnie Smith (Dianne), and sisters, Kathleen Carter, and Bonnie Byrnes (Danny).</p><p>Services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday March 30, 2024 at the Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Bro. Tommy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill West Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until the time of services on Saturday.</p><p>Memorial donations may be sent to Vitas Hospice, 320 Zeagler Dr., Suite 101, Palatka, FL 32177.</p><p>Memories and condolences may be expressed to the family at Michael’s Book of Memories page at www.johnsonoverturffunerals.com.</p><p>Arrangements are entrusted to Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.</p><p><br></p>
