David Michael Baggett

Rev. David Michael Baggett, 80, of Elkton passed away Tuesday March 26,2024 at The Pavilion at Crescent Lake in Crescent City following an extended illness. He was a native of Palatka and a lifelong resident of the Hastings area. Michael worked for many years in the farming industry for Danny Byrnes Farms and also worked in pulp wooding. He was a long-time pastor at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Hastings and performed many weddings and funerals during his time as a pastor. In his spare time, Michael enjoyed fishing, singing, and loved giving to others.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Aaron Baggett and Jewel Basher Bagget, a brother, Joseph Larry Baggett, and sisters, Carol Anett Smith, and Elizabeth “Libba” Sweat.

Michael is survived by his brothers Calvin Baggett Sr. (Bessie), Tommy Smith Jr. (Karen), Earl Smith (Betty), Donnie Smith (Dianne), and sisters, Kathleen Carter, and Bonnie Byrnes (Danny).

Services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday March 30, 2024 at the Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Bro. Tommy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill West Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until the time of services on Saturday.
