Rose A. Woods

<p>Rose A. Woods, 81, of Chambersburg, PA passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Wellspan York Hospital due to complications of a stroke. Born January 22, 1943 in Bangor, ME, she was the daughter of the late Francis J. and Margaret E. Goodin.</p><p><br></p><p>Rose was a 1961 graduate of Nevada Union Senior High School, Grass Valley, California. After graduation she enlisted in the United States Navy. Following bootcamp, Rose attended the U.S. Navy Hospital Corps School in Great Lakes, Illinois. She was then assigned to the Philadelphia, PA Naval Hospital from which she was honorably discharged. She was employed as the Office Manager of the Physical Therapy Department in the Chambersburg Hospital in the mid-1960s and later as a Sales Associate with WCHA selling space for radio advertisements. Rose was a Past President of the PTA at Scotland Elementary School where she was the driving force behind establishing the first in-school library at that school. Lastly, she was employed at Nitterhouse Alarms and Communications in Chambersburg as the Office Manager until her retirement.</p><p><br></p><p>Rose was a voracious reader and enjoyed school. She also enjoyed working in her flower gardens, walking and picking wildflowers, all of which she could identify. Her passion was taking care of her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Rose was a fantastic cook, especially her holiday meals.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Gary L. Woods, Sr. whom she married on November 10, 1961 in Waukegen, Illinois; two sons, Gary L. Woods, Jr. (wife Linda) and Cory L. Woods, both of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Amanda R. Martin (husband Evan) of Wilmington, DE, Elizabeth A. Woods of Manchester, PA, and Jacob R. Woods of Moses Lake, WA; one step granddaughter Brittany Henry of Chambersburg; one great-granddaughter, Adelina Nueves of Manchester, PA; four step great-grandchildren, Damon, Brooklynn, Jovanni, and Luna; and one brother, Frank Goodin (wife Karen) of Pahrump, NV. Aside from her parents, Rose was preceded in death by three siblings, George, Robert, and Virginia; and one step-grandson, Colton Wood.</p><p><br></p><p>Per Rose’s wishes there will be no public viewing. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Rev. Bruce Levy will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L.
