Shantina Renee Raley-Charlot Obituary

This is what Shantina “Tina” would want you to know………

My journey recently ended peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones in Independence, KY, but I began my tour on June 20, 1979, in Jefferson, SC, small-town rural America.  Living my dreams, I have had opportunities to travel through Ft. Campbell, KY, Germany, Ft. McClellan,  Alabama (Hot), Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas (Cold as ….), even a stint at Fort Knox, KY. Yes, you guessed it “Military Brat!”  Man, I miss that ID Card~ thanks Mom!

I have a beautiful, loving, and very busy family.  My sweet husband, Lionel Charlot, who is laidback, loving, and caring, has only one speed… slow; hence the reason why we call him Galapagos.  Shoutout to him at joyfulsoundentertainment.com, DJ C-Low.  Next, my beautiful children, Jonathan Malachi Charlot, a wonderful future mechanic who I always said gave me no troubles ever~ cough, cough Cam. Then my ride or die/sidekick, Camryn Danielle Charlot, the dance champ, volleyball killer and future general surgeon.  My basketball superstar, Caleb Christian Charlot, NBA dreams, Steph Curry in the making. And finally, my cherry on top… Peyton Lilyana Charlot “whew”, my sunshine~ the archer, all-star cheer champ, dancer, and basketball dabbler.

My kids seem to think I am bad at cartwheels, riding a hoverboard, and most of all singing- especially high notes.  But minus the bad, my kids also say I am very good at being there and taking care of my family, or as Caleb describes, holding the family together.  Also, being my kids and my husband’s best friend, therapist, voice of reason, and of course keeping their ….. together.  My time spent with them has been beautiful and nothing short of exceptional.

After graduating from Leavenworth High School “Go Pioneers”, then attending the University of Kansas, “Go Jayhawks”, I became a sorority chick, AKA (Alpha Kappa Alpha), Skeeeeeeweeeeee!! Later I attended Indiana Wesleyan University where I received my MBA which afforded me to land my dream positions at Mercer, Convergys, and finally E.W. Scripps Company. Along the way, I met coworkers who became life-long friends (you know who you are, LOL).

Besides hanging out with my gang (you know I mean my fam), a few of my favorite things to do  as a kid, was reading the Encyclopedia Brown Series and Aesop’s Fables.  As an adult, I moved on to The New York Times Best Sellers and became a news junkie.  I also enjoy taking long walks to clear my head and spending quality times with family and friends.

My family is vast so it’s literally impossible to list everyone by name. Thank you to all who loved, supported, encouraged, and guided my tour to this point.  I only ask that you extend the same to my family that I leave behind.

From this day forward, I wish for each of you to remember me as you knew me.

Love Tina
