Robert Wayne Abrams Obituary

~~~~~~~~~~~
Robert (Bob) Wayne Abrams
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Bob Abrams, peacefully on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024, and surrounded by his family. Loved by so many, he leaves behind his wife, Lori, his son, David (Alec), his daughter-in-law Emily, and his beautiful grandchildren, Avery and Rhett. He is also loved and already missed by his brothers and sisters, Chuck (Janet) of Mallorytown, Lynn Lewis of Picton, Herb (Lana) of Nepean, Leisa Butterworth (Ron) of Carleton Place, and Chris of Mallorytown, and so many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Herb and Jean Abrams.
Bob was a man of solid faith, and he loved God and his Brockville Wesleyan Church family. After he retired, you would often find him at Blockhouse Island reading his Bible, enjoying the waterfront, and maybe even having a quick snooze. When he was healthier, he loved hunting and fishing and the great game of golf. He was a lifetime member of the Oxport Hunting Club and after a day of hunting he found so much joy in sitting down with his hunting buddies with a glass of wine, a piece of butterscotch cream pie and a lot of laughs.
He was blessed to have a job he loved, working first as an apprentice and electrician for Jenkinson Electric, and then moving on to various factories throughout his career, including Automatic Electric (AEL Microtel, Brockville SCI), Nestle Canada, Weston Bakeries, and Trillium Brockville, where he retired from just a few years ago. He had so many great lifelong friendships and if you were in his circle of “persons”, you knew you were loved and cared for by Bob.
Bob loved his family. Family dinners, family picnics, family events, he loved them all. Over the past six years, Bob took on his favorite role of all when he became a “Papa” to Avery in 2017, and Rhett in 2019. He doted on his grandchildren, and they were always so excited to see him. He cared for them in the summer, going on many long walks with them, taking them to the park, even through the challenges of his health. Papa made the best noodles and always had time to play “Miss Ashley” with the kids. He will leave a huge hole in all of our hearts.
To Celine and Mini from Kidd 2 ICU, the family wishes to thank you for your compassion and care for Bob. We were so grateful to have you taking care of him!
Arrangements are with the Irvine Funeral Home, Chapel & Cremation Services. A private family service will be held at a later date in accordance with Bob’s wishes. Donations in Bob’s honor can be made to the Brockville Wesleyan Church (Sunday Supper) and will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
