<p>Gregory Ray Vestal, 68, passed away after a long illness on March 25, 2024, at his home, in Webb City, MO. He was born on December 3, 1955, in Springfield, MO., to the late Thomas and Barbara (Shepherd) Vestal.</p><p><br></p><p>A graduate of Marshfield High School class of 1973, Greg's athletic ability was shown as he excelled in football, basketball, and track. His remarkable talent on the baseball diamond caught the attention of the New York Yankees, who scouted him at the tender age of 16. Furthering his education, Greg attended Drury University, where he became a brother in the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Professionally, Greg dedicated 25 years to Grace Energy Corporation, where he served as the Director of Motor Fuels.</p><p><br></p><p>Greg’s love for sports continued throughout his life, manifesting in his unwavering support for the St. Louis Cardinals and his enthusiastic participation in golf. However, one of his greatest joys were his grandchildren, and he cherished every moment spent cheering them on in their various activities.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his devoted wife, Julie Vestal; daughter, Katie (Vestal) Moore (Richard); grandchildren, Jackson and Finley Moore; brother, Gene Vestal (Jane); uncle, Charles Shepherd, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.</p><p><br></p><p>A Celebration of Life is planned for Friday, April 12, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary in Joplin, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, in care of the mortuary.</p><p><br></p><p>Arrangements are under the direction and care of Parker Mortuary.</p><p><br></p>
