Candy was born in Brooklyn, NY to Henry and Ruth Weil. She grew up in Westwood, NJ with her parents and siblings Carolyne, Bill, and Alison, completing high school there. As a young adult, Candy lived in several states before settling in Manasquan, NJ with her two sons.

Candy was fun and she was funny. Her sharp and funny wit was part of her charm. She had an infectious vitality that came through in her work, her hobbies and when she was with her friends and family. Candy had the energy to challenge herself. She spent 25 years in the legal field as a paralegal or legal office administrator. After that she brought her talents to the corporate world where she served as an executive assistant before retiring in 2012. During that time and while raising her two sons, Candy decided to become a runner. She participated in many Spring Lake Five Mile Runs. She ran a half marathon in preparation for the big race, the New York City Marathon, which she completed in 1988 and 1989. She also managed to find time to travel with friends to France and to Italy as well as within the US and enjoyed foreign cooking classes at the Cordon Bleu. Candy spent the last 12 years of her life educating adults and children about the fundamentals of plant life, the importance of pollinators, how to support the life cycle of butterflies and their habitat. She found her happy place to do all of that with the Master Gardeners and while working at Barlow’s Flower Farm in Sea Girt. As part of the Barlow customer service team Candy escorted busloads of people to the Philadelphia Flower Show, the New York Botanical Gardens and Longwood Gardens, sharing her knowledge and passion for all that gardening encompasses. She also gave seminars and enjoyed her role as a community educator. Candy loved her Barlow “family” and so appreciated their support through her illness.
