<p>Richard Dean Hopkins, 84, of Ottumwa, died at 10:33 a.m. March 25, 2024 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.<br></p><p>He was born August 12, 1939 in Ottumwa to George and Myrtle Garner Hopkins. Dick married Connie Bankson on April 30, 1960 and she preceded him in death on February 18, 2017.</p><p>Dick served in the U.S. Army from 1956-59. He was a machinist at John Deere Ottumwa Works for 30 years, retiring in 1997.</p><p>Dick was a member of UAW Local #74. He enjoyed line dancing, having taught in Iowa and while wintering in Florida. Dick enjoyed playing Schuffles and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.</p><p>Surviving is his son, Jeffrey Alan (Tracy) Hopkins of Ottumwa; 3 grandchildren, Haleigh (Jason) Skaggs of Williamsburg, Mariah (Josh) Sterling of Martinsburg, and Nataliah (Jake) Marshall of Surf City, NC; 5 great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Jordyn and Knox Skaggs, Claire and Lillian Sterling; a brother, Raymond Hopkins of Winterhaven, FL.</p><p>He was preceded in death his parents; a son, Tommy Dean Hopkins; 2 daughters, Stacy Hopkins and infant Carmen René Hopkins; 3 brothers, Lee, Bill, and Harvey Hopkins.</p><p>His body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time. Inurnment will be in Shaul Cemetery.</p><p>Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.</p><p><br></p>

Richard Dean Hopkins, 84, of Ottumwa, died at 10:33 a.m. March 25, 2024 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
