PLEASANTDALE Gerald J. O’Melia, 88, of Hudson Ave. passed away Sunday March 24, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Troy he was the son of the late Fred and Mary Bridges O’Melia. He was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School.

Gerald was a Troy Firefighter for 33 years and retired in 1995. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps.

Gerald enjoyed making model airplanes and watching war movies. He was an avid John Wayne fan.

He is survived by his loving wife Lorraine Reiser O’Melia. He is the devoted father of Kevin K. O’Melia (Ann Marie) of Lansingburgh, Randy J. O’Melia (Linda) of Troy and the late Tammy O’Melia Taylor. He is the brother of Delores D. Espinoza of Las Vegas and the late Tommy O’Melia. He is the proud grandfather of Brian and Lauren O’Melia and the late Eric O’Melia. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and his canine companion Marcel.

Funeral services will be Monday April 1, 2024 at 11:30 am from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte.32), Waterford and at noon at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford. Interment will follow at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday April 1 from 9:30 am – 11:30 am, prior to the funeral.
