Obituary

BURDITT, Marjory Vietta (Major)

January 31, 1926 – March 23, 2024

Marjory was reunited with her husband and son, and earned her well-deserved crown when she was “Promoted to Glory” in her 99th year and is now in her eternal home.

Together with her beloved husband, the late Stanley William Burditt, she lovingly raised five children: the late Stan (Aura), Gary (Donna), Rob (Glenda), Don (Gwen) and Nancy (Ken Kerr). She adored and is cherished by her 15 grandchildren (and their respective spouses), 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Loving “mother” of Stephanie Turner. Marjory is survived by her sister, Betty Yardley, as well as many nieces and nephews who dearly loved their Aunt Marge.

Marjory was a remarkable woman of God who lived a full and meaningful life and left a wonderful legacy of faithfulness to the Lord. She was a kind, caring, and generous lady who exuded the love of her Lord, offering a smile and encouraging word to everyone she met. She never missed an opportunity to care for others and often, along with her husband, welcomed many people into their home – some for a short visit, some for many months. It was not unusual for the family to see an extra place setting or two at the table, often for someone she had just met.

Marjory loved her family and was immensely proud of them. Nothing made her happier than spending time with them or catching up in a phone call. She loved playing games and was a fierce competitor, clearly adopting the mantra “If you play, play to win!” which she usually did, especially if it was a game of Scrabble. Marjory was an extremely intelligent, inquisitive lady who loved to read and continually learn. After retiring from ministry, she went on to earn her BA in English from The University of Western Ontario at the age of 75.

While we remember Marjory here on earth with great affection and sorrowful hearts, the angels in heaven rejoice and the Lord says, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

The family invites you to join them in paying tribute to her legacy. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 6:30 pm-8:30 pm and a Celebration of Life Service will take place on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 11:00 am – both at The Salvation Army London Citadel (555 Springbank Drive, London ON). The service will be livestreamed on The Salvation Army London Citadel YouTube channel for those who cannot attend in person.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff in the Yellow Rose unit of Westmount Gardens Long Term Care Home in London ON, for the kind and loving care they provided to both of our parents over the past few years.

Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, London. If desired, donations to The Salvation Army London Community and Family Services “Send a Kid to Camp Campaign” (https://bit.ly/3TTDcnY) would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to COOPER FUNERAL HOME, Jarvis (519-587-4414). Friends are invited to send condolences and sign the Book of Memories at www.cooperfuneralhome.ca
