Barbara Ann Page Obituary

Born on September 3, 1943, Barbara Ann was the youngest child of Adolphus and Anna Pearl Rodgers. She grew up in Union, Union County, South Carolina with her parents and two older siblings, Martha and James, whom she affectionally called “Sissy” and “Johnnie.” Barbara graduated from Sims High School, the first Black high school in Union County, in 1964.  After graduating, she worked as a live-in nanny before returning home to care for her ailing father.

Barbara moved to Columbus in the early 1970s to live with her cousins, Willie and Annie Mae Sims. She immediately obtained employment with The Ohio State University. She later pursued an employment opportunity with Riverside Methodist Hospital where she remained as a dedicated employee in hospitality services for 34 years until her retirement.

Barbara was united in holy matrimony to Robert L. Page, who she fondly referred to as her husband and forever best friend, in December of 1975. Barbara and Robert would remain married 45 years until he went home to glory in 2021 and where they will join again.

Barbara loved roses, enjoyed watching QVC and talking with family.  She was an excellent cook who will be fondly remembered for her infectious laughter.

On the evening of March 23, 2024, Barbara passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, after a short, but courageous, battle with pancreatic cancer.

Barbara is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert L. Page; parents, Adolphus and Anna Pearl Rodgers; siblings, Martha (Rutherford) Smith and James A. Rodgers; stepdaughter, Barbara Page Carter; and son-in-law, Maurice Sampson.

She is survived by her stepchildren; Mary Sampson, Wyvonne Page, Judy Page, Jerry Page and Rosita Primrose; nephew, Corey Rodgers; sister-in-law, Margaret Rodgers both of San Bernadino, California. Barbara also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, and many more family members and community friends.

Barbara will be laid to rest with her husband at the Greenlawn Mausoleum and truly missed.
