Wayne David Rose, 81, of Swannanoa, NC passed away on March 23, 2024 at home.

Wayne was born on July 23, 1942 to the late Kenneth and Edna Coleman Rose. He was born at his grandparents’ home, the late George and Ora Coleman, on Bates Creek in Murphy, NC. He served in the US Army then lived in Atlanta for 11 years before moving to Swannanoa, NC in 1974. Wayne retired from the NC Highway Patrol garage as a Car Body and Paint Technician and Assistant Supervisor. He loved to fish, raise a vegetable garden, and plant flowers. Wayne and his wife, Glenda, enjoyed retirement and spent time in Lake Wales, FL and traveling the USA in their motorhome during the summer months.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 60 years, Glenda Rose; son, Eddie Rose of Swannanoa, NC; sister, Dorothy “Sue” Hawkins of Maggie Valley, NC; and granddaughter, Auriella Dawn McMahan of Asheville, NC.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 1, 2024 from 7:00 to 8:30pm at Harwood Home for Funerals in Black Mountain.

A celebration of life service will be Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 12:00pm at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Calvin Murphy officiating. Jeremy Berrong and Anthony Spillman will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry.
