Lottie Angie Rebecca Chambers Obituary

Lottie Angie Rebecca Ramseur Chambers, daughter of the late Rodney Ramseur, Sr and Nannie Summers Ramseur, was born in Iredell County on Friday January 24, 1930. She departed this life on March 24, 2024.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Clarence Chambers and Jarrett Chambers, a granddaughter, Jessica Chambers; two sisters: Elnora (Lynn) Wilson and Blondean Ramseur and 7 brothers: LonnJean Ramseur, Ray Sr. (Margaret) Ramseur, John (Gladys) Ramseur, Melvin (Mary) Ramseur, Whitfield Ramseur, Rodney, Jr. (Mary) Ramseur and Thomas (Joanna) Ramseur; brother-in-law, Harry James and son-in-law, John W. Dalton. She was married to David J. Chambers on May 25, 1957 sharing over 56 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2013.


She attended Chestnut Grove Elementary and Unity High School. Lottie was one of the founding members of Chestnut Grove Community Center where she made the biscuits for the ham breakfast they sold as a fund raiser to help purchase the building. Her work life included: Kewaunee, Hunter Brothers and finally at Vanity Fair retiring after 20 years in 1993. She joined Chestnut Grove Baptist church at an early age. She was one of the original ushers where she served as both Junior and senior usher for several decades. Lottie was a former deaconess, a faithful member of the senior choir, having served as their secretary. She also served as Chairman of the Kitchen committee. Lottie was Chestnut Grove Church NAACP Mother of the Year in 1992. In 1992 she received a certificate of appreciation after she and her husband became NAACP Family Life Members.


She previously served as a youth Sunday School and VBS teacher. Lottie was the oldest church member at 94 years old. Our Church Mother attended Sunday School, Morning Service and Bible Study faithfully until her health failed in February. Lottie formerly served as Iredell County Missionary Union 4th Vice President. In 2012 she received the Senior Missionary Award from District 3 Group 2 of Iredell County Missionary Union. Lottie was a proud parent and supporter of the North Iredell Raiders where her sons Anthony and David both excelled in sports.


Left to cherish her memory are her daughter (Caregiver) Linda J. Dalton of Hamptonville, N.C. and her 2 sons, Anthony (Linda) Chambers of Dobson, N.C. and David (Stacy) Chambers of Lamont, Fla. One brother, Shirley (Mildred) Ramseur of Olin, N.C. and 2 sisters: Betty James of Harmony, N.C. and Deborah Ramseur of Statesville, N. C., a sister-in-law, Sarah Ramseur of Statesville, N.C.; ten grandchildren, LiJohnda (Cardell Thurman) Dalton of Troutman, N.C., Pam Chambers, Anthony (Emma) Dye, Tyrone (Lrisa) Chambers of Statesville, N,C.; CiTorrie (Menika) Wilkins of Harmony, N.C, Antonia (Lee) Stewart and Wayne Chambers of Winston Salem, N.C., Derrick (Anna) Stevenson of Rock Hill, S.C., Dylan (Kaitlynn) Shaw of Lamont Fla; and David Chambers of Marion N.C. 15 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; including special nieces: Geneva Tarter and Barbara Gaither, as well as a multitude of church family and friends.


Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Reverend Robert Ramseur will officiate and Reverend Dale Gibson will eulogize.


Mrs. Chambers will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home where members of the family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., but will assemble at the residence of her granddaughter, LiJohnda Dalton, 117 Fairfield Drive, Troutman, N. C.
