Raymond Joseph Zerio passed away peacefully of natural causes on March 24, 2024, in Manchester, Connecticut. Born on July 23, 1953, in Virginia, Ray's kind-hearted nature and love for life left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Ray was the cherished son of Peter R. Zerio and the late Beverly Zerio. He grew up surrounded by the love and camaraderie of his four brothers: Michael and wife Debbie, Tom and wife JoAnne, James and wife Kris, and William and wife Jessica. Ray was a beloved uncle of several nieces and nephews.

A proud graduate of Manchester High School, Ray's professional life was marked by dedication and skill. He worked in assembly at Multi Circuits and Empire Tool, and later, as a maintenance worker at Marshalls. His hands were rarely still, for Ray was a man who found joy in practical endeavors and took pride in a job well done. Ray's interests painted the picture of a man with a deep appreciation for the classics. His love for music ranged from the timeless tunes of Frank Sinatra to the iconic songs of the Beatles, his favorite band. A talented drummer, Ray could often be found tapping out rhythms that echoed the beats of his favorite songs. His passion for old movies was another facet of his love for the vintage, with a particular fondness for Star Trek and the old westerns, especially those starring his favorite actor, John Wayne. Building models was more than a pastime for Ray; it was a craft he approached with the patience and precision of an artist. His hands, adept at creating miniature worlds, were just as skilled at cueing up his jukebox, which was always stocked with his favorite 45s. The melodies that flowed from that jukebox were the soundtrack to many family gatherings, where Ray played the dual role of entertainer and historian, sharing stories of the music and stars he admired. 

Ray's legacy is one of generosity, thoughtfulness, and gentleness. He was always ready to lend a hand or an ear to those in need, and his gentle spirit was a source of comfort to his friends and family. His thoughtful gestures, whether a surprise visit to a relative or a carefully chosen gift for a friend, were done without fanfare but spoke volumes about the kind of man he was. To know Ray was to know laughter. He had an uncanny ability to light up a room with his humor and warmth. Hours would be spent playing games with his nieces and nephews, where he was not just an uncle but a playmate, a storyteller, and a confidant. The echoes of the joy and laughter he brought into their lives will resonate for years to come. 

Ray's departure leaves a void in the hearts of his loved ones, but they take solace in the wealth of memories he has left behind. He will be remembered not just for the life he lived but for the lives he touched with his generous spirit and his gentle soul. Ray's life will be celebrated in the hearts and minds of his family and friends. He is deeply missed and will forever be remembered as a man who lived a life full of passion, love, and laughter. Rest in peace, dear Ray; your melody will play on in the hearts of those you've left behind.
