Elmer Earl Oestman JR Obituary

Elmer Earl Oestman, Jr., 85, of Broomfield, Colorado passed away on March 21, 2024, in his home.  He was born August 2, 1938 in Wray, Colorado to Elmer Oestman, Sr. and Dorothea (Weed) Oestman and was the oldest of two siblings.

Elmer was raised on the family farm North of Wray, Colorado.  He graduated from Wray High School in 1956 excelling in band, football and track. He joined the Air Force in 1957 and served through 1961.

He married Kay Arlene Keeler on May 4, 1958 and divorced in 1988.  They had two beautiful girls, Lisa and Michele.

There were many passions in his life and some were the Brighton Rotary Club, Ye Ole Auto Club, singing and acting in the Northland Chorale and Friday night pizza (extra mushrooms please).

Elmer married, Diane (Bills) Oestman in 1989, and enjoyed a wonderful life together recently celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary.  He welcomed a stepson Trevor and stepdaughter Marnie from this union.  They operated Flood Insurance Services until they retired. Elmer always had a story to tell and was a great P/R person. He had a great way with people and it showed.

During Elmer & Diane’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, collecting butter churns and pedal cars. They also made a yearly trip to the Western slope of Colorado for the annual peach run.  The family enjoyed several cruises with them later in life.  Running his tractors and working his acreage were his passions.

Elmer is survived by his wife Diane Oestman, daughter Lisa Pettinger (Richard), daughter Michele Oestman Sack (Pat Meroney), Son Trevor Bills (Denise), and daughter Marnie Boom. They have 12 grandchildren (Matthew, Tonia, Desiree, Savannah, Amanda, Ronnie, Adam, Tim, Jay, Jamie, Sandra, and Jarrod) and 17 great-grandchildren, sister Deana Medlock, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by both parents and granddaughter Jamie.
