Margaret Colleen Hawkins, 67, of Ashmore, Illinois, passed away at 10:04 a.m. Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Arbor Rose of Charleston, Illinois. She was retired after over thirty years as a paraprofessional with Eastern Illinois Area of Special Education. She had also worked throughout her life as a child care provider and home health care giver.

Colleen was born May 3, 1956, in Paris, Illinois, the daughter of the late Riley and Marjorie (Tolen) Hammond. She married Albert D. Hawkins on June 7, 1975, at Kansas United Methodist Church in Kansas, Illinois, and he survives.

Other survivors include two children, Alan (Stacy) Hawkins of Ashmore, Illinois, and Michelle (Michael) Schnepper of Montrose, Illinois; a brother, Bret Hammond of Springfield, Illinois; a sister, Camille Baker of Kansas; four grandchildren, Dara and Alanson Hawkins and Macie and Lauren Schnepper; and several nieces and nephews; as well as her lifelong best friends and vacation partners, Elise Hood and Cindy Richey. She was preceded in death by a brother, Brad Hammond.

Mrs. Hawkins attended Kansas Christian Church. Colleen was very thoughtful, caring, and attentive to the needs of others. Most of all, she will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother who loved supporting her grandchildren.

SERVICE INFORMATION

Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on May 3, 2024, at Fairview Cemetery in Kansas. Templeton Funeral Home of Paris is in charge of arrangements.
