It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ernesto Girimonte on

March 23rd 2024 at the age of 92.

Ernesto was married to Isabella. Father of Vince(Rose), Franco(Tonya) and Lisa(Rocco). Grandfather to Marcus who he cherished.

Ernesto was born February 20th, 1932, in Cosenza Italy. Ernesto moved to Canada in 1952. He worked on the railroad tracks for a couple of years then worked with scrap metal. He took a welding course and got hired with Iron workers union Local 721 and worked with Dominion Bridge then Canron. Ernesto was a survivor of the HOGS Hollow disaster of 1960 where 5 Italian construction workers were killed.

Ernesto contributed his Skill of welding on numerous projects including the Toronto CN Tower, and the mountain at Canada’s Wonderland.

Ernesto got married in 1960 and started his family.

Ernesto was a hardworking family man who loved people, spending time with his family and his grandson. Ernesto loved hunting, fishing, target shooting and attending to his garden. Ernesto loved taking his family to there cottage up north in Tiny Township where he had an even bigger vegetable garden. He loved to Weld not only for work but also at home and made many Iron things like tables, chairs, stools, fireplace, Ovens, racks, a big wagon and

more. Ernesto loved to cook with his home-made BBQ or wood oven at home and the cottage.

Ernesto was a humble man and worked hard until he retired. He always kept his welding license up to date even after retirement.

Ernesto was loved by his family and will be missed.

Visitations for Ernesto have been entrusted to the DeMarco Funeral Home – Keele Chapel (3725 Keele Street. 416.636.7027) and will commence on Wednesday March 27, 2024 from 3:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m

A Funeral Service will be celebrated on, Thursday March 28, 2024 at 10:00 a.m and conducted at DeMarco Funeral Home – Keele Chapel (3725 Keele Street. 416.636.7027). Immediately following Ernesto's Funeral Service, his interment will take place at Beechwood Cemetery (7241 Jane Street, Concord, Ontario)
