Evelyn Odell (McDaniels) Miller, 92, of Charleston, died peacefully in her home Monday, March 25, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Evelyn spent her life devoted to raising her eight kids and was the former owner of Evelyn’s Square Dance Apparel, which grew from her interest in square dancing and making her own colorful dresses.

In later life, she became an award-winning quilter and was nationally recognized for the vibrant colors in her perfectly hand-stitched works of art.

Anyone who knew Evelyn would know her greatest joy was spending time with her eight children and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty seven years, Donald E. Miller; grandson, Timmy; three sisters and one brother.

She is survived by eight children, Steve of State College, PA., Ed (Brenda) of Nitro, WV., Dave (Crystal) of Jamestown, NC., Becky James (Scott) of St. Albans, WV., Kenny (Janet) of Caldwell, WV., Rusty (Marguerite) of Winchester, VA., Connie Arrington (Neil) of Pittsboro, NC., Anne Marie Miller (Doug) of Clearwater, FL; fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; brother, Carl (Shirley) of Buckhannon, WV., and her special neighbor and friend, Chuck Payne.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM., Friday, April 5, 2024 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father John Finnell officiating. Evelyn will be laid to rest in the Church columbarium.

Family and friends will gather for a time of visitation two hours prior to the service Friday at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament (Tithe Fund, Food Pantry).
