<p>Josephine Stewart “Jo” Johntry, 79, of Hawthorne, passed away on Saturday March 23, 2024 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka. A native of Jolo, West Virginia, Jo moved to Palatka with her family in 1958. She attended Palatka High School and as a teenager she worked as a car hop at Jerry’s Drive In (originally Martin’s) where she was known as “Little Jo”. Jo became a CNA and worked at Putnam Community Medical Center for over 20 years. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. </p><p>She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Johntry, Sr., her parents, Thomas and Lizzie Bell Stewart, her twin brothers, Erstel and Estel Stewart, brother, Tommy Stewart, and a niece, Jessica Lynn Stewart.</p><p>Jo is survived by her son, Harry “JR” Johntry Jr. of Johnson, grandchildren, Eric Johntry of Johnson, Tara Ivie of Johnson, and Daniel Cooper, a sister, Betty Summy (Carl) of Clyde, NC, a sister-in-law, Jackie Johntry Hertlein of Keuka, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Howard “Buddy” and Paula Johntry of Orange Springs, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.</p><p>Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday March 28, 2024 at Johnson Cemetery in Johnson, FL with Pastor Larry Litzell officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Wednesday March 27, 2024 at the Johnson-Overturf Interlachen Chapel.</p><p>The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Haven Hospice for the care they provided to Jo.</p><p>Memories and condolences may be expressed to the family at Jo’s Book of Memories page at www.johnsonoverturffunerals.com</p><p>Arrangements are entrusted to Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
