Margaret Christine Bedgood Hamill, aged 92, went home on March 24, 2024. She was born in McComb, Mississippi, December 18, 1931 to Robert F Bedgood, Sr and Evelyn L Bethea Bedgood. She came to Muskegon with her parents and siblings in 1933. Margaret was an elementary teacher in the Muskegon Public School system for 22-1/2 years, and obtained her Master's Degree in Elementary Education in 1978 by attending night school off-campus classes while raising a family of five children. She was active in several writers' groups and wrote several children's books and stories after her retirement in 1992. She wrote articles for the Oceana Herald/Journal and for Looking Back, Good Old Days, Grit, and Michigan History magazines.

SURVIVORS

She is survived by her children, Marilyn Hamill, Douglas Hamill, and Jeffrey (Nicole) Hamill, and daughter-in-law, Holly Hamill, sister Evelyn Bedgood Croskey, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert James Hamill, Sr, sons Robert James Hamill, Jr and Ronald Craig Hamill, her parents, Robert F Bedgood and Evelyn L Bethea Bedgood, two sisters' Carol Ann, and Bobbie Jean Bedgood, and two brothers; Robert F Bedgood, Jr and Charles I Bedgood.

SERVICE

Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 1:00pm at Clock Funeral Home with Rev Scott VanArendonk officiating. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shelby, Michigan.
