Larry Edward Ranger Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of our beloved father, grandfather, husband, and brother, Larry Edward Ranger. Dad was born September 27th 1947 in Vancouver, British Columbia to parents Frank and Margaret Ranger. After moving to Ontario, where brother William Ranger was born, the family settled back in Burnaby, BC.

Dad spent his early life playing soccer, baseball and eventually pool. In the mid 60’s he met Judith Irene Anderson and July 4th 1969 the two were married in Burnaby. In 1971 they moved to North Vancouver where there their three children Michael, Sheila and Catharine were born.

Dad’s career led him to Dave Buck Ford, where he worked as the Controller. Dad was always involved in our lives despite a busy work career, and coached Soccer in Lynn Valley until 1989. After Dave Buck, he purchased Robert Half and Account Temps where Mom and Dad built their own business and sold in 1992, and they were able to retire and spend more time at their condo in Hawaii. But for a hardworking man like dad it wasn’t enough and dad returned to start another business, EDS Development Systems, in the job recruitment and placement industry.

Dad had a passion for travel, and exploring the oceans scuba diving. He loved golf, kayaking, and sports. He was a skilled billiards player, and travelled to many tournaments around the world playing snooker.

Family was always dad’s number one priority and he did everything he could to take care of his wife, kids, and grandkids. Dad is survived by his wife of 54 years Rene Ranger nee Anderson, his brother Bill (Susan), his children Mike, Sheila (Basil), and Catharine, and grandkids Makayla, Evan, and Keenan.

The past few years were difficult for dad as he suffered from Parkinson’s, but he fought hard and still maintained his independence. Dad will be remembered for his kind and giving nature, witty and sharp sense of humour, and a laugh that would fill up the room. We will miss you dad.

Thank you for everything and for being such a great example to us all. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Movement Disorders Clinic Pacific Parkinson’s Research Centre at parkisons.ubc.ca or Parkinson Society British Columbia at parkinson.bc.ca
