<p>Cynthia "Cindy" Jane Nowak, age 65, of Windham, Connecticut, passed away on March 22, 2024.</p><p><br></p><p>Cindy was born on September 16, 1958, in Windham, Connecticut. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Cindy is survived by her husband Douglas Nowak, sons Jeffrey Nowak (Claire Byun) and Kevin Nowak (Alicia Nowak), grandchildren Lily and Bryce Nowak, sister Mary-Jane Belske (Desmond Belske), brother Bruce Major, sister-in-law Barbara Gibbons, brothers and sisters-in-law Peter &amp; Lisa Nowak, James &amp; Lisa Nowak, Robert Nowak, as well as far too many nieces and nephews to list here.</p><p><br></p><p>Cindy cherished any and all memories and messages from family and friends, saving and cataloging every greeting, get well, condolence, birthday, thank you, mother's day, Christmas, halloween (name any holiday/event you'd like) card she ever received. Her loved ones meant everything to her, and it would be very important to her that everyone goes forward with that knowledge in their hearts and minds. </p><p><br></p><p>Cindy attended Manchester High School and later pursued higher education at Eastern Connecticut State University. She had a successful career as an accountant/comptroller, working for various businesses, including NecaNet and BusinessOnline. She dedicated nearly two decades as the payroll administrator for Windham Public Schools before retiring in 2018.</p><p><br></p><p>In her leisure time, Cindy cherished moments with her friends, many of whom date back to her childhood and school days. She also enjoyed crafting handmade greeting cards, painting, and most of all, spending quality time with her family -- especially children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews -- and annual family vacations, often in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.</p><p><br></p><p>A visitation and short service will be held on Friday, March 29, at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St, Rockville, CT, 06066.
