Gloria Leona Arnold Shelton, age 80 of Blairs, Virginia passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Commonwealth Senior Center in Danville, Virginia. Mrs. Shelton was born October 30, 1943 in Abington, Virginia to the late Helen Pendergrass Arnold and the late John Arnold. She was married to Philip Shelton.

Mrs. Shelton was a CNA until her retirement and was a member of Sheva Church of Christ. She will always be remembered as a kindhearted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her.

In addition to her beloved husband of the residence, she is also survived by two sons, Mark Powell (Cindy) and Philip Shelton, Jr.; one daughter, Anjanette Shelton; six grandchildren, Anthony Powell, David Powell, Jr., Logan Shelton, Miriam Powell, Nicole Bywater, and Samuel Powell; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one sister, Clara Henderson (Danny); one brother, Jimmy Arnold (Judy); and many loved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by a son, David Powell, one grandson, Joshua Powell; and two sisters, Mildred McGrew and Shirley Plunket.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 28, 2024, 3:00 p.m. at Sheva Church of Christ, Chatham, Virginia with Pastor Ron Voss officiating. Burial will follow the service at the church cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral service from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m.
