Thomas “Tom” H. Collins, 87, of Connersville went home to be with his Lord, Saturday morning, March 23, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at Reid Health of Richmond, Indiana.

One of four children of Zeral and Ruth Carpenter Collins. Tom was born October 11, 1936, in Knox County, Kentucky and with his family they moved to Connersville for residence.

A proud veteran, Tom served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

On June 21, 1958, he was married to Wilma L. Andrew in the Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Collins passed away May 21, 2019.

For over twenty-seven years, Tom was employed at National Metals Company of Connersville. Following their closure, he became Plant Manager for Randall Textron of Morristown, Indiana for over seven years. Tom also assisted, his dear friend, Babe Lynch with the operations of Wholesale Carpet of Connersville.

Tom had been a faithful member of the Connersville Baptist Temple where he had served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, Chairman of the Trustee Board and Chairman of the School Board at Temple Christian School. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No.#1, of Connersville.

Survivors include three children, Randall (Leslee) Collins, of Hixson, Tennessee, Scott (Ashley) Collins, of Anderson, Indiana and Shawna Sutherland, of Tabor City, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Caroline (Joshua) Young, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, Graham Collins,of Nashville, Tennessee, Victoria (Devin) Phelps, of Connersville, Alex (Chelsea) Collins, of Indianapolis, Juliette (Garrett Silcott) Collins, of Connersville, Matthew Sutherland, of Tabor City, North Carolina and Lindsay (Colin) Moreno, of Beaufort, South Carolina; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Joyce York, of Hamilton, Ohio and Carol (Jimmie) King, of Connersville; He is blessed with a number of nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife of sixty years, Wilma L. Collins, Tom was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Shirley Keith, two brother’s-in-laws, Simon York and Wayne Keith and a nephew, Kelvin York.

Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home officiated by his son, Dr. Randall Collins. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Dale Cemetery.
