Harold E. Rogers

<p>Harold E. Rogers, 92, of Howard, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home in Milesburg. Born on April 30, 1931, at home in Jacksonville, he was the 10th child of George F. and Edna (Weight) Rogers. </p><p><br></p><p>In 1952, he married Gwendolyn Bartholomew, who preceded him in death in 1982. He went on to marry Pamela (Bryerton) Rogers in 1985, who survives at home after sharing 39 years of marriage together.</p><p><br></p><p>Harold graduated in 1948 from Howard High School and settled in Mill Hall. He became a mechanic for Dunlap Motors until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1952. He was stationed at the Panama Canal and served as a tank mechanic until he was honorably discharged in 1960. Upon being discharged from the military, he continued to work as a mechanic and an autobody technician for various dealerships until he became an Autobody Instructor for KCSD, until he retired after 18 years in 1991.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his son that he shared with Gwendolyn, Keith Rogers (Kathleen), and three children that he shared with Pamela: Dr. Colleen Rogers Strouse (Scott), Kelsey Meyer (Brett), and Kaitlin Zimmerman (Joseph); five grandchildren: Jason Rogers (Rashmi), Carrie Thompson (Steve), Christen Schaufler (Brendon), Travis Rogers, and Ford Strouse, and 10 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Samuel Bryerton, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great-great nieces and great-great nephews. </p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his parents and first wife, Gwendolyn, he was predeceased by his nine siblings. He was the last of his generation. </p><p><br></p><p>Harold was a life member and 30-year treasurer for the Mill Hall Fire Company. He competed on the Bald Eagle Rifle Team and bowled competitively. He was also a life member of the National Rifle Association and the North American Hunting Club. His hobbies included farming, as well as repairing and restoring old farm equipment. He was also known for dabbling in homemade winemaking.</p><p><br></p><p>There will be no services as per Harold’s wishes. Internment will be at the Jacksonville Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte. </p>
