<p>Margaret “Marge” Geary, 91, of Manasquan, passed away peacefully at home on March 23, 2024. Marge was a beloved wife, dedicated to her family, a faithful friend, and a devout Catholic. Marge was born in Manhattan, NY on August 23, 1932, to Bridget and John Cullen. She was one of four children who grew up in Washington Heights in Manhattan. Marge was a first-generation Irish American as Bridie and John left Ireland separately only to reconnect in New York to marry, settle in “the Heights”, and raise their children.</p><p>While attending Cathedral High School in Manhattan, Marge worked as a “Page” at the renowned Waldorf Astoria. Soon after she married her childhood sweetheart, Harry, and they moved to Jackson Heights section of Queens. When it came time to move to the suburbs, they settled in New Milford, NJ where they remained for 37 years and raised five children. In addition to being a full-time mom, Marge worked in various fields including modeling for the Yvonne Meyer Agency in New York.</p><p><br></p><p>Marge was an active member of the St Joseph’s Parish in Oradell, NJ, serving as Vice President of the PTA and teaching CCD classes. She also ran the second Cornerstone Program. Marge also made time for volunteer work at the Bergen Psyche Ward for Marge this was most rewarding of all.</p><p>In 1998 Marge and Harry retired to the Irish Riviera of the Jersey Shore. They enjoyed their golden years filled with fun and friendships in their stellae community, Four Seasons at Wall.</p><p>Marge was active in her community’s early years serving as President of the Women’s Club with dear friend and Vice President, Dee Kerrigan. Additionally, Marge was a liaison to the House and Recreation Social Committee running trips, organizing fund raisers and parties. Marge, always the social butterfly, inadvertently named the newly formed water aerobics class, The Mermaids, when her daughter Mary came up with a “team costume” theme based on Ariel the Mermaid. The community’s 1998 inaugural Halloween party won them best costume!</p><p>At 73, Marge took a real estate course to pursue a lifelong interest. It was there she met, and partnered with, Jeanne Grasso. Together they went to work for Ocean Pointe Realty in Sea Girt, NJ, where they flourished in friendship and business.</p><p><br></p><p>Marge was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband Harry, her sister Kate Walsh, and brothers Tom and John Cullen. Marge is survived by four sons, Tom and John Geary of Point Pleasant, NJ, Dr. Jim Geary of Manchester, NH, Rich Geary of Warwick, NY, and one daughter Mary Geary of Naples, FL. Marge was the cherished grandmother of Bridget Geary of Manhattan, NY, Allison Geary, Esq. J.D., Providence, RI, and Kristen Geary of Warwick, NY.</p><p><br></p><p>Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday April 5, 2024, from 2-4 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ 08736. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am on Saturday April 6, 2024, at St Martha Church 3800 Herbertsville Road Point Pleasant, NJ 08742. The burial will be at a later date at Brig Gen William C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by going online to www.stjude.org.
