Margery J. Kenerson Obituary

Margery Jane Kenerson, age 100 years and 4 months, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 20, 2024.

Marge was born the youngest of three daughters of Henry and Edith Wappner on November 27, 1923, in Mansfield, Ohio. In October of 1949, Marge married Edward F. “Bud” Kenerson and they remained married until Bud passed away in 1999.

She touched the lives of many people in her century-plus, none more than her children, Sally Kenerson, Michael Kenerson (Mary Anne) and John Kenerson (Janet); her grandchildren, Erik (Kate), Brett (Megan), Tyler (Jessica), Joseph (Tyler) and Jacob Kenerson; and her great-grandchildren, Colette (5), Liza (4) and Cade (2) Kenerson.

Marge lived in Willowick for over 60 years and had many good friends and neighbors there. When she was not going to work at the Lake County Title Bureau in Painesville, you could find her outside weeding her flower beds, feeding the squirrels, or just watching the airplanes pass over head on their way to Cleveland Hopkins Airport.

After she and Bud both retired, they enjoyed going out to lunch almost every day at either Marietta’s or the Manhattan Deli. After Bud passed away, Marge learned how to drive at age 75 and continued the lunch time tradition on her own until she finally gave up her license at age 90.

She sold her home and moved to an assisted living apartment in Twinsburg with Kit, her beloved white cat and remained in Twinsburg until her passing. She made many new friends there among the residents and the staff.

Marge enjoyed baking - especially very decadent brownies and great cutout sugar cookies- making chocolate candies, and doing crafts. She made attractive stone jars, did ceramics, did macramé items and made several different kinds of holiday-themed crafts. She very much enjoyed sharing the baked treats and craft creations with family, friends, and the staff at her apartment.

She was also a big fan of Cleveland sports teams and very closely followed the ups and downs of the Guardians, the Browns, and the Cavaliers. She was active in Bethel Lutheran Church in Willowick, and cherished the many friendships she made there over the years.

Marge will be remembered with a smile by everyone who shared a part of her long life.

Visitation will be at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby, on Friday, April 5 from 11 AM until 1 PM with a service following at 1 PM.

A private family Interment will be held at Whitehaven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions be made in Marge’s memory to either Bethel Lutheran Church in Willowick; The Heart Fund at Maplewood - Twinsburg; or to Pet Rescue at www.tailsfromthecitycleveland.org.
