She received her education in Accomack County and graduated from Parksley High School in 1978. She worked diligently for Tyson Foods for 24 years and Paradise Plaza Inn for 22 years. Her co-workers described her as a bright light and someone that always had a kind word, gift, or some way to make the workday fly by.

Their union was blessed with one son, Kendall Jamal Spence, born on September 29, 1993, six stepdaughters, Takiesha Crippen, Niesha Hammond, Qwenttecia Spence Chiquitta Postley, Kelly Fisher, and Kasha Postley, a stepson, Ko-Lee Robins, and a host of grandchildren.

Eyvonne was permanent fixture at all family gatherings. She was a “true” sister to all of Darcy’s siblings. Her biggest passion was shopping, jewelry, shoes, perfume, and knick-knacks. She would not pass on anything featuring Tweety Bird. Having sweets made by her “sister” Wanda was a must, and her favorite sweet was yellow cake with chocolate icing. She made a special request for cupcakes this year for her birthday. Eyvonne’s favorite music was anything gospel.

Eyvonne is promoted to be another family angel to watch over those she loved and left behind, her husband, Darcy Spence, children and grandchildren, four siblings Warren (Christine) Mason of Middletown DE, Victor (Loretta) Mason of Port Wentworth GA, George (Frances) Mason of Exmore VA and Rose (Robert) Fletcher of Mappsville VA, her lifelong best friend Regina Wilson, 33 nieces and nephews and host of great nieces and nephews.

PSALM 23 KING JAMES VERSION

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
