Jerry E. Fewkes of Clark, NJ passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024. He was 77 years old.

Born in Trenton and raised in Florence, Jerry graduated from Florence High School and Stevens Institute of Technology. Jerry was a life member of the Burlington Relief Fire Co., as he served there for many years prior to moving to Clark in 1974. He served as a Technical Engineer at Jersey Central Power & Light Co. for 28 years in Sayreville and Forked River.

Jerry’s legacy is Service to Others. He had a passion for firefighting and emergency management. As a fireman for almost 40 years, Jerry rose through the ranks and was Chief of Clark Fire Department in 1988-1989, then Deputy Chief for many years after, retiring as a life member in September 2014. He also served the town of Clark as Fire Inspector & Director of Emergency Management for 24 years and kept thousands of residents safe with his annual inspections & C.E.R.T. classes. Jerry was also very involved with the Cranford United Methodist Church volunteer ministries. Jerry had many joys in his life and had a wonderful sense of humor! He was quick with his wit or to lighten a situation. He loved Seaside Heights, NJ and spent every summer on the boardwalk, enjoying playing the candy stands, riding the ferris wheel and eating Kohr’s ice cream. He dedicated himself to working on his rental houses and talking to his renters about Seaside. Jerry loved wood-working, collecting things, rooting for the NY Giants and eating sweets (ice cream, donuts & Peanut M&Ms preferred). Every Christmas, the tree was surrounded by his prized model Lionel trains. What a display he had!

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 49+ years Jeanne (Maudsley), daughter Holly Kemp (Gordon) and son Brian (Annmarie). Jerry was the very proud Papa to Maggie Fewkes and Jesse Fewkes. He loved his family and his legacy will live on through them. In the past 5 years, Jerry had discovered half-siblings with whom he became close and treasured their friendship, Terri Peterson, Trudi Daub and David Daub.

Jerry was pre-deceased by his grandparents Lydia and Wallace Fewkes, parents Adella and Ronald Brock, sister Judy Pitko, special cousins Janice Borocz and Peter Magee, half- sister Carol Siman-Tov and many nieces and nephews.
