John Reno Obituary

ASHBURY PARK,NJ/SPENCER- John Reno,72, of Asbury Park, NJ, formerly of Spencer, MA, passed away on March 18,2024 after a period of declining health.


John is survived by his partner Roberto Rivera of Asbury Park, NJ, his brother David and his wife Patricia of Charlton, his brother-in-laws, James St. Peter of Spencer, and Mark Petraitis of North Brookfield; John is also survived by several beloved nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his sisters Ann Reno, Carol St. Peter, Susan Petraitis, and brothers Paul, Mark and Peter Reno.


John was born July 17,1951 in Worcester the son of the late John and Mabel (Rowell) Reno. John graduated from David Prouty High School. He received his bachelors degree in Psychology from Worcester State College and his Masters degree from Anna Maria College. John began his career at the Eagle Hill School in Hardwick, MA before moving to New Jersey in 1984. John worked as a Social Service Coordinator at Meridian Health New Jersey retiring in 2018. John was truly committed to his patients and a dedicated advocate of HIV and its cause. John was the head of the housing committee for HIV patients and volunteered for many local supporting organizations.


John had a passion for theater and enjoyed attending Broadway plays and performing in various plays. He enjoyed traveling and taking cruises with Roberto. He had a profound love for his family and was an extremely thoughtful and caring person with a huge heart and a beautiful spirit. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.


Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, April 4,2024 from 4-6PM in Pillsbury Funeral Home 163 Main St Spencer.The funeral for John will be held on Friday with a Mass at 10:30AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church 7 Church St. Spencer. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to The Center in Asbury Park, 806 3rd Ave, Asbury Park, NJ 07712 where John spent countless hours volunteering.
