Michael J. Kelleher

<p>Michael John Kelleher, 86, of Renaissance, Manchester, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2024. Born on November 5, 1937 in the Bronx, NY to Myles and Mary (Gilroy) Kelleher. Mike grew up in Brooklyn, NY where he graduated from Fort Hamilton High School. Upon graduating from high school, Mike proudly served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. After his service, Mike met the love of his life, Maureen of Bay Ridge, whom he married in 1962. After serving in the Army, Mike spent many years working on Wall Street. In 1977, he joined the National Securities Clearing Corporation (NSCC), where he spent many years as Vice President of Operations where he pioneered many of its policies and procedures for clearing and settlements in the securities industry nationally and internationally. In 1992, Mike was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Securities Clearing Corporation. </p><p><br></p><p>Mike was an avid sports lover, he enjoyed countless rounds of golf with his friends and rarely missed a NY Mets or Jets game. He was a longtime NY Jets season ticket holder. Mike also enjoyed putting his endless sports knowledge to the test with his friends and family that he obtained from over 70 years of reading the NY Post. Most of all, he loved spending time with his wife and family, including their grandchildren who lovingly called him “PopPop”. Mike’s strong Catholic faith laid the foundation for him to be the best possible husband, father, grandfather and friend, which also allowed him to inspire those he loved to do the same. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Maureen, son John Kelleher, daughter Jean (Mike) O’Dowd, and two grandchildren Olivia Jean and Gavin Michael. Loving brother of Myles (Maryanne) of Newtown, PA and Patrick (Barbara) of Montgomery, NY and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his loving sister Theresa Suriani. </p><p><br></p><p>There will be a visitation on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 4 to 8 PM, at Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Road, Manchester. A Funeral Mass celebrated by Fr. Joseph Fitzgerald on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Luke’s Church, 1674 Old Freehold Road, Toms River. </p><p>In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mike’s honor to Tunnel to Towers Foundation 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306.</p>
