Robert Lee Tackett Obituary

Robert Lee Tackett 74 of Atkins passed away Friday, March 22, 2024, at his home. He was born March 25, 1949, in Morrilton, to Doyle and Margaret Carter Tackett. He retired from Green Bay Packaging – Arkansas Kraft Division after 39 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atkins.


Rob was instrumental in the youth baseball program, from redoing fields to obtaining the first batting cage and pitching machine, generously donated by the University of Arkansas. He coached Little League to Senior Babe Ruth. Not only were they players on the team they were family. Also, he ran the clock for Senior High Football from the early 1990’s to 2020. He loved his Red Devils, Razorback, and New York Yankees.


He was preceded in death by his father, Doyle Tackett; and sister-in-law, Debbie Tackett.


He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years known as “His Bride”, Othelia Young Tackett; sons, Wesley Tackett (Lisa), and Dustin Tackett (Jennifer); brother, Andy Tackett; mother, Margaret Helen (Polly) Tackett; grandchildren, Nate Tackett, and Tiffany Tackett; mother-in-law, Ulalah Young; brothers-in-law, Larry Young (Judy), and Lynn Young (Becky); nephews, Andrew Tackett, and Family, Lance Young, Mark Young, and Paul Turner; nieces, Sandy Miller, Angela Quigley, and their families; and numerous friends and family.


Visitation will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 26, at Lemley Chapel with funeral service to begin at 11:00 AM with Rev. Zach Phillips officiating. The burial will be in Atkins City Cemetery under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.


Pallbearers are Pat Jackson, Joe Carter, Andrew Tackett, Paul Turner, Glenn Brannon, and David Hampton.


Honorary pallbearers are Jim Scott, Jamie Huett, Ray Caldwell, Dale Birdwell, and Robert May.


In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Atkins 201 N. Church St, Atkins, AR 72823.
