Iris Jeanette Leary
<p>Iris Jeanette Leary, 87, passed away on March 20, 2024. She was born on February 14, 1937, in West Chester, PA and adopted by her loving parents Hilary Ashburn and Mary Wilson Leary in Camden County, NC. </p><p><br></p><p>Iris was active in many school clubs and the National Honor Society at Elizabeth City High School and gave the invocation at her graduation. She then received a Certificate in Accounting from the Woman’s College at the University of North Carolina.</p><p><br></p><p>After starting her family, she went into the civil service working in data processing and computer programming at Fort Monroe, VA until she retired and moved back to her beloved Pasquotank River. She spent her years there playing on the river, enjoying family, and dancing with her Shag Group friends.</p><p><br></p><p>Her last years were in Virginia with her daughter, where she was surrounded by love the rest of her days.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her children Denise (Wesley) Greene and Ash Perry, grandchildren Renss Greene and Hillary (Steven) Davis, and great grandchild Flora Davis.</p><p><br></p><p>The family will hold a memorial service at Wesley United Methodist Church in Shiloh, NC on April 7, 2024 at 3:00 pm.</p>Obituary
