Joseph Alexander Kish Obituary

Passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday March 21, 2024 in his 91st year.  Beloved husband and best friend of Madaline Kish (Winterbottom) for over 67 years.  Loved by his three sons, Dave (Carrie), Dan (Jean) and Don (Tracy). Devoted grandfather of Patricia, Nathan (Heather), Jason, Jamie (Rebecca), Emma (Calvin), Ashley (Andrew), Brandon (Amy), Brittany (Brock) and Brett.  Great grandfather to Conan, Braeden, Darian, Layla, Oakley, Elliott, Jordan and Cale. Predeceased by his parents Harriet and Alexander and siblings Ethel, Evelyn and Elmer. He will be lovingly remembered by his brother in-law John, sister in-law June, cousin Hank, the Winterbottom family and many nieces and nephews.

Joe was born in Kipling Saskatchewan and moved with his family to Jordan Station where he worked along side his parents and siblings on the family vineyard, selling their grapes to local wineries. As a young man, Joe found work as a meat cutter in St. Catharines and met Madaline, the love of his life, while dining at the Woolworths lunch counter where she worked.  After a brief courtship, Joe and Madaline married and started their life and family together.  Joe had a successful sales career with Maple Leaf Foods and he and Madeline embarked on a busy life raising their three sons, spending many hours at hockey arenas, baseball diamonds, and campgrounds.

Joe and Madaline spent their early retirement years near Bobcaygeon where Joe was able to enjoy his hobbies of fishing, gardening, and woodworking as well as yearly visits to Florida to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Joe and Madaline moved back to Lindsay for their final retirement years, tending to their gardens and continuing with their love of woodworking.  Joe was a man of faith and enjoyed his Sunday’s attending the Baptist Church. One of his most cherished memories was their trip to Jerusalem with his siblings.

There will be a Visitation held at Lakeland Funeral Centre on April 2, 2024 at 1PM until time of service at 2PM. Reception to follow. Burial will take place the following day at Pleasantview Cemetery in Font Hill, ON at 1PM.
