Eunice Merte
<p>Eunice Merte, 102, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on March 21, 2024 at her home. She was born on October 3, 1921 in Poughkeepsie, NY, the daughter of Ludwig & Elsie Simon Merte. Eunice graduated from Poughkeepsie High School in 1938 and Poughkeepsie Business Institute in 1939.</p><p><br></p><p>She was employed for over 42 years in the banking industry in Poughkeepsie. Eunice retired as a Customer Service Representative from the former Bank of New York of Poughkeepsie in January of 1985.</p><p>She was a life Member of 1st Evangelical Lutheran Church in Poughkeepsie and was a member of the Vassar Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.</p><p><br></p><p>Eunice enjoyed bowling, traveling, and reading the Poughkeepsie Journal. She attributed her long life among many things, but chocolate milk was high on the list. </p><p><br></p><p>Survivors include many friends and second cousins. </p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be Wednesday, March 27, 2024, 11-1PM at the Wm. G. Miller & Son FH, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Service will begin at 1PM following the visitation. The burial will be in the family plot in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
