Junior Ray Taylor Obituary

Junior Ray Taylor, 90, of Whiteford, MD, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. Junior was the third of fourteen children born in Whitetop Mtn., VA, to his late parents Elmer Ray and Nannie Ola (Wyatt) Taylor. He is survived at home by his beloved spouse of 66 years, Margaret C. (Ramsburg) Taylor.

Junior moved his mother and siblings to Whiteford following the death of his father. His devotion to his family continued throughout his life. He was a smart and talented man, building many things with his hands. He served America honorably in the United States Army, stationed in Korea during the Korean War. Following discharge from military service, he worked as a heavy equipment operator at Aberdeen Proving Ground, retiring after 38 years of dedicated service.

He and Margaret raised their family in the home that he built, the home that they still lived in upon his death. One of Junior’s greatest joys was to be surrounded by his family. In his spare time, Junior loved to tinker and build things. He even built his own backhoe, which is lovingly known as Gitney and turned his favorite pick-up into a dump truck. He was a man of deep faith and loved the Lord greatly. Together, Junior and Margaret attended Forest Ridge Baptist Church in Forest Hill, MD.

In addition to his beloved spouse, Junior is survived by his children; Cynthia Ann Bahr and her husband Richard, of Delta, PA, Thomas Ray Taylor and his wife Amy, of Seven Valleys, PA, Dennis Allen Taylor and his wife Mary Lou, of Whiteford, MD and Susan Marie Hoffman and her husband Michael, of Whiteford, MD. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and his siblings; Delenor Taylor and his wife Mille, Lois Aylor, Joyce Alder and her husband Roger, Doris Richardson and her husband Jerry and Peg Few.

In addition to his parents, Junior was predeceased by his son, William Lee Taylor and seven siblings.
