We are sad to announce the passing of Betty Jane Kirker of Newport. She died at age of 66 on March 20, 2024. Miss Kirker was born January 15, 1958 the daughter of Elmer Dee and Allie Mae (Shields) Kirker.

Miss Kirker was a graduate of Newport High School. She loved caring for others. She worked several years for White River Area on Aging and was an EMT for White River EMS. Her hobbies including collecting Betty Boop memorabilia, reading and taking care of her best buddy, Rusty, her dog. Betty was a member of the Cherokee Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Allie Mae Kirker and brother Dewayne Kirker.

A private ceremony was held and she was laid to rest at Gracelawn Cemetery. In lieu of of flowers you can donate to Jackson County Animal Shelter or Cherokee Church of Christ.
