Susan E. Janes Obituary

Susan Evans Janes, 74, passed peacefully on March 22, 2024, after a brave two and a half year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family before she passed.

Sue was the devoted wife of Dickie Janes for 50 years, a loving mother to Jennifer Janes, Matthew Janes (Lori), and Julie Torzewski (Stan); and a cherished grandmother to Kylie, McKenna, Cole, Blane, Hadley, Stella, and Lorna.

A parishioner of John Paul II Parish (formerly St. Pius X), Sue lived a life of service and devotion. She spent countless years as a teacher for the Archdiocese of Louisville, shaping the minds and hearts of many. Her selflessness extended beyond the classroom, as she was known to be a supportive sister and friend to all who knew her.

Sue is survived by her beloved husband, children, grandchildren, and siblings, Pat Ramser and Nancy Evans. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Genevieve Evans, Sr., and her brother John Evans Jr.

A hall of fame tennis player, Sue was a gifted athlete on both the tennis and basketball court and was known for her positive spirit and creativity. Her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family, friends, colleagues, and students. May she rest in peace.

Visitation will be Monday, March 25 from 2 - 8pm at Highlands Funeral Home on Taylorsville Rd. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 26, at 1 pm at St. John Paul II Parish on Goldsmith Lane.
