Francis Joseph Astolfi, Jr.

<p>&nbsp; </p><p>Francis Joseph Astolfi, Jr. passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Absolut Care at Three Rivers on Thursday, March 21, 2024. </p><p>Fran was born in Corning, N.Y. on October 14, 1951, to Shirley E. (Randall) and Francis J. Astolfi, Sr. &nbsp;He was a 1969 graduate of Corning East High School.&nbsp; Fran worked as a Finisher for Corning Incorporated’s Steuben Plant, retiring in 2005.&nbsp; During his tenure at Corning Inc., he was a Union Representative for Local 1000 United Steelworkers Union, a role that he was proud to serve in for several terms. </p><p>Fran enjoyed time at the lake in the sunshine, drinking a cold beer and cooking for his family.&nbsp; His favorite holiday was Christmas, marked by an annual Christmas Eve party at his home where he was the ultimate host, always providing his guests with an abundance of food and gifts. He was known to his closest friends by the nickname “Scoop” for his ability to have his finger on the pulse of any local happenings and could often be found at R &amp; M, his favorite local hangout.&nbsp; Fran’s family and friends will remember him for his fierce love for his family, his sense of humor and his unique style of storytelling. We will miss him beyond measure and keep his legend alive through those stories. </p><p>Fran is survived by his Wife; Deborah (Dykes), Daughters; Nichole Astolfi and Ashley Astolfi, Grandsons; Dominic and Cameron Anderson and Liam Jones, Siblings; Mary Edmister, Julie Dailey and Michael (Kristi) Astolfi, Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law; Randy and Sue Dykes, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.&nbsp; He is predeceased by his parents and sister Christine Amidon. </p><p>We would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Absolut Care at Three Rivers for the kindness and compassion they displayed.&nbsp; Fran’s care has been entrusted to Acly-Stover Funeral Home in Corning.&nbsp; No services are planned at this time.&nbsp; A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. </p><p>&nbsp; </p><p>&nbsp; </p><p>&nbsp; </p>
