A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at St. John Chapel in Lewisburg for Donald J. Sonnier, 58, who passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 3:16 A.M. at Acadia St. Landry Hospital in Church Point.

Fr. Michael Vidrine, Associate Pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point will be officiating for the services. Burial will be held in the St. John Chapel Cemetery in Lewisburg.

The family has requested the visitation to be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 4:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Church Point. A Rosary will be recited at 6 o’clock in the evening on Friday in the Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will resume on Saturday at 8:00 A.M. until time of services.

Survivors include one sister, Rachel and husband, Jason LeBas of Church Point; three aunts, Linda and husband, Alvin Faul of Rayne, Connie and husband, David Anderson of Church Point, and Linda and husband, Rick Whitson of West Virginia; several cousins.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Sally C. Sonnier; his paternal grandparents, Eli and Pearl Sonnier; his paternal grandmother, Vera Sonnier; his maternal grandparents, Bennett and Bernice Credeur; his Godparents, Harry Credeur, and Cheryl Sonnier.

Donald was a wonderful person who never failed to make everyone around him laugh. He loved to joke and pick, and especially loved when people picked backed. He never met a stranger and was affectionately known as the "Daily World." He carried a heavy cross during his time on Earth, but he did it with strength, grace, and character. He will be greatly missed by his family and numerous friends.
