David E. McArdle Obituary

Father, contractor, and business owner David McArdle passed away on the evening of March 19, 2024, at the age of 56 years old. His love for God and gratitude for Christ’s love and forgiveness shined through him in his last few days, and his loved ones eagerly await seeing him again.

Growing up in Bluffton, Indiana, David thrived on the football and swim teams, eventually entering the Bluffton High School Hall of Fame alongside his siblings. He graduated from Plant High School in Tampa, Florida, then traveled back to Indiana to play football and study history at Franklin College before transferring to Indiana University. After marrying his wife Nancy on August 8, 1992, they settled in Bloomington to grow his business and start a family.

McArdle & Company, Inc. began by providing landscaping services, but quickly graduated to designing, constructing, and renovating stunning homes. David was named Builder of the Year by the MCBA in 2012, Builder of the Month in November 2015, by the South Central Indiana Builders Association, and received the Indiana Lemonade Day Sponsor Award in 2012. His intricate craftsmanship and rich designs were featured in the Home & Lifestyles of South-Central Indiana magazine.

He loved adding details and value to his and Nancy’s home with major renovations and projects, as well as building custom wooden pieces for his kids. Woodworking, sailing around Adam’s Lake in Wolcottville, Indiana, and golfing with his brothers and best friends were some of his favorite pastimes.

He is survived by his wife Nancy McArdle; children Eleanor (Chandler) Clark, John McArdle, and Marilyn (Steven) Lee; grandson George Clark; siblings Bob (Jennifer) McArdle, Patrick “Chip” (Diane) McArdle, Linda (Brock) Rittenhouse, Mike (Julie) McArdle, Mary (Michael) Ramirez, Ann (Eric) Salek, John (Christina) McArdle; and 32 nieces and nephews. He is now reunited in Heaven with his late parents, Donald and Beverly McArdle.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in David’s honor to the Women’s Care Center of Bloomington, as this was a meaningful cause to him.

His family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate his life by attending his visitation on April 1, 2024, from 1-4 pm with a service to follow beginning at 4 pm at The Funeral Chapel in Bloomington, Indiana.
