<p>Passed away peacefully at Wellington House in Prescott, Ontario on March 20, 2024 at the age of 78 years old.</p><p><br></p><p>Martin is survived by his wife Eileen and their children: Gerry (Catherine), Geoffrey and Daniel (Heidi). Devoted grandfather of Shaylin, Tarynn, Kenna, Cormick, Samuel (Maddy), Joshua and Christian, great grandfather of Sofia.</p><p><br></p><p>Martin is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Wilma, Tom (Mary), Kathy (Murray) and Joe (Joan) and by sister-in-laws: Ann, Marie, Fia and Linda. Martin was predeceased by brothers: John, Albert, Frank and Theo. He has many nieces and nephews who he was close to. </p><p><br></p><p>Born in the Village of Dekrim in the Netherlands on September 8, 1945, Martin immigrated with his parents and family to Canada in 1953 and was raised on the family farm in North Augusta. He graduated from Thousands Islands Secondary School and went on to graduate from St. Lawrence College completing the electrical technology program and attaining his certified engineering technologist (CET) designation. </p><p><br></p><p>Martin completed his electrical apprenticeship at Alcan in Kingston attaining his electrician qualification. He later worked at Philips Cables in Brockville until its closure moving to DuPont in Maitland until his retirement. </p><p><br></p><p>Martin and Eileen built their dream home in Lyn, Ontario where they lived happily making many fond memories. </p><p><br></p><p>Martin was a devoted member of the Maitland Reformed Church for many years and then later the Bethel Christian Reformed Church dedicating many hours of volunteer work within both church communities. </p><p><br></p><p>He was an incredible hobbyist gaining particular enjoyment from his tropical birds, their beautiful flower gardens, rare rocks and his collection of stamps. Martin loved to sing and enjoyed playing the organ, accordion, guitar and harmonica. He was passionate about helping his family and friends in any way he could.
