Madeleine Malvina (née Lafond) Aho (1945-2024)

In loving memory of Madeleine Malvina (née Lafond) Aho who passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, March 20th, 2024 at the age of 78 years after battling Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis for nine years. Madeleine lived at Red Oak Villa for the last three years.

Madeleine is predeceased by her husband, George Aho, and her parents, Roger and Béatrice (née Labelle) Lafond. Survived by her children, Paul (Diana) Aho and Pauline (Anthony) Guerra and by her grandchildren Carl Aho, Victoria Aho (Georges Thériault), Austin Guerra, Nathan Guerra and Morgan Guerra. Eldest sibling of Diane (Murray) MacCumber, Donald (Susan) Lafond, Robert (Connie) Lafond, Laurelle (late Neil) St. Amant and Marcel Lafond. Also survived by her sister-in-law Ingrid Saikkonen and many nieces and nephews.

Following a lengthy career in health care, Madeleine retired to the lake house where her gardens and blueberry picking were the highlight of the summer. She enjoyed fishing, watching birds and all of nature and being outdoors. While she and George were in good health, they enjoyed travel to many destinations around the world. She loved spending time with her family. She spent many happy hours playing kitchen bridge. She loved cooking and sharing a meal with family and friends. Thank you to all who supported her through her illness, and a special thank you to the staff and administration at Red Oak Villa for the support received and to the residents for their friendship.

In keeping with Madeleine’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Hope Church, 591 Brennan Road, Sudbury, on Thursday, June 27th, 2024 at 10:30 am. A reception will follow. Cremation with interment in the family plot at the Park Lawn Cemetery, Sudbury.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice would be appreciated.

À la douce mémoire de Madeleine Malvina (née Lafond) Aho, décédée paisiblement avec sa famille à son chevet le mercredi 20 mars 2024 à l’âge de 78 ans suite à une lutte de neuf ans contre la fibrose pulmonaire idiopathique. Madeleine a habité à la Villa Red Oak pour les derniers trois ans.

Madeleine est prédécédée par son époux, George Aho, et ses parents, Roger et Béatrice (née Labelle) Lafond. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses enfants, Paul (Diana) Aho et Pauline (Anthony) Guerra et ses petits enfants Carl Aho, Victoria Aho (Georges Thériault), Austin Guerra, Nathan Guerra et Morgan Guerra. Soeur ainée de Diane (Murray) MacCumber, Donald (Susan) Lafond, Robert (Connie) Lafond, Laurelle (feu Neil) St. Amant et Marcel Lafond. Elle laisse aussi dans le deuil sa belle-soeur Ingrid Saikkonen et plusieurs nièces et neveux.

Suite à une longue carrière dans le domaine des soins de santé, Madeleine a pris sa retraite à la maison au lac où ses jardins et la cuillette de bleuets étaient des activités précieuses pendant l’été. Elle aimait la pêche, observer les oiseaux et toute la nature et être en plein air. Pendant qu’elle et George étaient en bonne santé, ils ont profité de voyages à plusieurs destinations à travers le monde. Elle aimait passer du temps avec sa famille. Elle a dépensé plusieurs heures heureuses à jouer au bridge. Elle adorait cuisiner et partager un repas avec sa famille et ses amis. Un gros merci à ceux qui ont fourni leur appui durant sa maladie, et un merci spécial aux employés et l’administration de la Villa Red Oak pour leur appui et aux résidents pour leur amitié.

Selon ses dernières volontés, Madeleine ne sera pas exposée. Une messe commémorative aura lieu à l’église Our Lady of Hope, 591 chemin Brennan, Sudbury le jeudi 27 juin 2024 à 10h30. Une réception suivra. Incinération avec inhumation dans le lot familial au cimetière Park Lawn, Sudbury.

Au lieu de fleurs, la famille sera reconnaissante de dons faites à la Maison McCulloch Hospice.
