<p>Israel Perez Lugo, age 84, of Maricao, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on March 20, 2024. He was a resident of Susua Baja, Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico. Born on September 21, 1939, he was the cherished son of the late Francisco Perez and Maria Lugo. Israel was a devoted spouse to his beloved wife, Ermelina Rodriguez Mercado de Perez, with whom he shared a loving union since 1963.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Growing up alongside eight siblings, Israel was known for his helpfulness and handyman skills from a young age. Throughout his life, he pursued various occupations, including construction work, driving tractor trailers, and entrepreneurship as a merchant. He approached every task with dedication and a strong work ethic.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Israel found joy in simple pleasures, often spending leisure time engaging in his favorite pastime of playing dominoes with friends and family. His warm smile and kind heart endeared him to all who knew him.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his loving son, Wilmer Perez Rodriguez, and daughter, Nancy Perez Rodriguez, along with five adoring grandchildren: Wilmer Perez, Stephanie Perez, Emily Nieves, Hector Nieves, and Melanie Nieves. Israel also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends who will deeply miss his presence.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Funeral services and interment will be held in Yauco, Puerto Rico, where Israel will be laid to rest in the embrace of his homeland. His legacy of love, kindness, and hard work will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him. May his soul find eternal peace.</p>
