Kermit Dea Ferrell, a beloved husband, father, and community member, passed away on March 19, 2024, at the age of 88 in Quitman, Texas. He was born on March 31, 1935, in Sedgwick, Kansas, to Charles Columbus Ferrell and Emily Lake Ferrell.


Kermit attended the University of Oklahoma, where he pursued a business degree and met the love of his life, Nancy Ann Lovejoy. They were married on March 31, 1956, and shared a partnership marked by love, dedication, and mutual support until Nancy's passing on September 27, 2017.


In his professional life, Kermit had a successful career journey. He retired from The 3M Company in 1994 and embarked on a second career as the owner and broker of Coldwell Bankers Lakehaven Realtors, where he established himself as a respected figure in the East Texas real estate community.


Beyond his professional endeavors, Kermit was actively involved in various civic and fraternal organizations, including the Masonic Lodge. He was also a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg, where he found solace and community.


Kermit was a man of diverse interests and talents. He found joy in fishing, antiquing, woodworking, and the art of refinishing furniture. His adventurous spirit led him to frequently move around the country and even internationally, enriching his life with diverse experiences.


One of Kermit's fondest memories was working on the farm alongside his father in his younger years, reflecting his strong work ethic.


He is survived by his daughters, Jill Ferrell-Holton and her husband David of Tunbridge Wells, UK, and Penelope (Penny) Ferrell of Winnsboro, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, and grandson, Seth Lovejoy Ferrell.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Alliance of Smith County, 3531 S Broadway Ave, Tyler, TX 75701, in honor of Kermit's memory.


Kermit Dea Ferrell will be remembered for his kindness and resilience. His legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
