<p>A Celebration of Life for Alberta “Bert” Nitzsche age 77 of West Point, NE will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Beemer Mennonite Church in Beemer, NE. A luncheon will follow at the Beemer American Legion Hall. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the church and will continue one hour prior to the service. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is handling the arrangements. The family suggests that memorials be directed to the Beemer Mennonite Church Children’s Ministry. The celebration of life will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/minnickfuneralserviceinc .</p><p><br></p><p>In the early morning of Thursday, March 21, 2024, Bert was ushered silently and peacefully into the arms of Jesus completing her earthly journey surrounded by her husband, children, and daughters-in-law.</p><p><br></p><p>Alberta Carol Nitzsche was born on August 18, 1946 in Cleveland, OH. At the age of 16, she and her sister were lovingly welcomed into the home of Earl and Marian Wenger and their 8 children of Smithville, OH. She graduated from Norwayne High School Creston, OH in 1964 and entered Voluntary Service, serving for one year in Pueblo, CO at Parkview Episcopal Hospital. There she met the love of her life Larry Nitzsche.</p><p><br></p><p>They were married on October 12, 1968 at Smithville Mennonite Church. Larry and Bert settled in the West Point area where they took up farming and raised four children.</p><p><br></p><p>Bert’s interests included attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, gardening, puzzles, special trips with cousins, watching the Huskers, and most of all spending time with her beloved family.</p><p><br></p><p>Bert worked at the West Point Garden Center for many years. She continued her love for flowers and plants by spending six weeks with her Ohio family while working in their greenhouse business, which she did for 17 seasons. Bert also worked as a CNA at the West Point Living Center for a number of years, where she touched countless lives and made many lifelong friendships.</p><p><br></p><p>Bert accepted Christ as her personal savior as a teenager and during adulthood was a member of the Beemer Mennonite Church. She was involved in the Children’s Ministry and helped in the kitchen as a member of the food committee.</p><p>Her last day on Earth was spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, family members and close friends, which was a special request of hers.</p><p><br></p><p>Bert is survived by her husband Larry Nitzsche of West Point, NE</p><p>Children and families-</p><p>Son-Dave and Sheri Nitzsche of Lincoln, NE and family- </p><p> Bryce (Casey) Nitzsche, Kelsey (Garrett) Kurtzer and daughter-Adi, Emily (Aiden) Sweeney, and Aaron Nitzsche</p><p>Son-Steve (Angela) Nitzsche of Lincoln, NE and family-</p><p> Kristopher (McKinley) Nitzsche, and Benjamin (Theadosia) Nitzsche</p><p>Daughter-Angie DeBoer of Lincoln, NE and children-</p><p> Sydney DeBoer and Izek DeBoer</p><p>Daughter-Beck Green of Champaigne, IL and children-</p><p> Havah Berg and Noah Green</p><p>Sisters-Helen and John Miller of Smithville, OH, Juanita and Buzz Maxwell of Chagrin Falls, OH, Jolene and Bruce Buss of Smithville, OH, and Wanda and Ronald Hebb of Apple Creek, OH</p><p>Brother-Eugene and Nonya Wenger of Wooster, OH</p><p>Brother-in-law-John Felijcan of Medina, OH</p><p>Mother-in-law-Alice Nitzsche of West Point, NE</p><p><br></p><p>Bert was preceded in death by her parents-Earl and Marian Wenger, step-mother-Lois Wenger, great grandchild “Little Nugget”, sister- Shirley Felicjan, brothers-Randall, Jerry, and Dwayne Wenger, and her parents-in-law-Delmar and Bertha Nitzsche.</p>
