Randal C. Allen Obituary

Randall Craig "Randy" Allen, (77), born in Lynch, Kentucky, passed away at St. Joseph Hospital on Thursday March 21st, 2024. Randy was born on November 18, 1946.

Randy was a lover of the outdoors and felt most at home with a fishing rod in his hand looking for the next “big catch”—those who knew him best knew there was always a fishing story to be told. He had a great talent for making lures and casting them better than anyone. He was happiest hunting for one on the backside of a log or underneath some overhanging limbs. If not on the water, he could be found in the woods quietly waiting to spot a jake or a big buck. That is where he found peace watching the forest wake up.

Randy served his country proudly in the United States Army, being drafted to fight in Vietnam. He was assigned as a helicopter gunner and was wounded during his deployment but continued serving. After his honorable discharge he returned home and also served as a Kentucky State Trooper before beginning a career in manufacturing. Randy attended a technical school, and he was a born tool and die maker. His talent for the craft was incredible. He could take any design and make it a reality. Randy spent his career making things and managing facilities from Kentucky to Florida. He finished his career retiring from Mid-South Electronics in Jackson County.

Randy was best known for his ability to tell stories, good ones. He could hold the attention of an entire group of people while he looked around holding for the right moment to deliver the punchline of a joke or the ending to an unbelievable story. He loved to make friends and he had a gift for it.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents, Ewin and Violet Allen, and by his wife, Debra Allen, his best friend and hunting buddy. He is survived by his daughters, Krista Kay (Todd) Abney and Shawna Lea (Jason) Huff, his son, Justin (Rosalie) Allen, his stepson Dustin (Keela) Collett, and his cherished granddaughters Maggie, Marlee, Brezlee and Lyla. He is survived also by his brothers Dennis (Diana) Allen, Michael (Karen) Allen, his sister Debra (Wade) Nicholson, and many beloved nieces and nephews. His family will miss him dearly. They keep his spirit & memory alive recalling his life’s stories, the true ones and the too good to be true ones.

A memorial will be held at Lakes Funeral Home in McKee, Kentucky on March 29th. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am, followed by funeral services at Noon. Randy will be laid to rest at Cornett Chapel in Jackson County. Please send condolences and flowers to Lakes Funeral Home.
