Sandra "Sandy" Kay Blackaby
<p>Sandra “Sandy” Kay Blackaby, 78, of Independence, KY, passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, with her devoted husband by her side. Born in Covington, KY, on December 31, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Claris Fischer. Sandy was a 1964 graduate of Holmes High School and went on to be a prominent member of the banking community. She was one of the first female bank managers in Northern Kentucky for the former Covington Trust, now Huntington Bank. Sandy worked in the Banking Industry for 47 years before retiring. She also graduated with a master’s degree from Thomas Moore College in 1991 and was a past member of the American Business Women’s Association for many years. Sandra is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years: Jerry Blackaby; sons: Jesse Blackaby and Jeff Blackaby; sisters: Carol Miller and Susan Easybuck; grandchildren: Justin Blackaby, Jerad Blackaby, Jessica Blackaby, Julia Blackaby and Jeffrey Blackaby; 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice, 483 South Loop Road, Edgewood, KY 41017 or the Lewy Body Dementia Association at LBDA.org.
